Mark Milley is the outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Recently he has announced that he wants to take measures to protect his family. This announcement comes after former President Donald Trump brought about accusations of colluding with China against him. President Trump brought about this claim with no evidence to back it up.
Milley’s management of the U.S. troops during the withdrawal from Afghanistan was criticized by Mr. Trump in 2020. The President called the incident a “Woke train wreck.”
Trump was of the opinion that Milley had been contacting China through the operation. These alleged accusations also stated that Milley had been leaking information regarding the thoughts of the U.S. President to the Chinese government.
Donald Trump claimed that this was a chronically severe offense which should be punished by death. On September 22 Trump had made these comments through his Truth Social platform.
Mr. Milley assumed has been acting as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff since October 2019. It happened during Mr. Trump’s presidency. His tenure ends on the 30th of September.
Recently, an interview took place on CBS’ 60 Minutes. Then Mr. Milley responded to the accusations made by Donald Trump. He stated, “I’ve been faithful and loyal to the constitution of the United States for 44 and a half years.” He also states that he was worried about the comments from Mr. Trump.
Milley stated that he is committed to taking appropriate measures against these comments and to protect his family.
