A woman in the year, 2021, has accused the former governor in New York, Mr. Andrew Cuomo of assaulting her by groping. She accused the Governer of this behavior when she was his employee. As a result, she went ahead and filed a civil lawsuit against Cuomo.
Brittany Commisso, is the ex-employee, whose claims led to these charges against the former governor. However, these charges were dismissed later. Brittany has now filed for a summons in a court of Albany, New York. This development took place on Wednesday.
Through the lawsuit, she described enduring ongoing sexual harassment while working for Cuomo. These apparently started happening in December of 2019. The harassment consisted of unwanted touching and remarks of a sexual nature.
Cuomo’s lawyer hasn’t replied yet. The Governor, a Democrat, stepped down in August 2021 after an investigation.
This said an investigation was by New York Attorney General Letitia James. It discovered that he’d harassed 11 women. Commisso earlier reported Cuomo for touching her breast in 2020. The complaint resulted in a misdemeanor charge in October 2021.
This was the only charge in all the allegations.
Albany’s district attorney later dropped the case in January 2022, praising Commisso’s credibility but couldn’t prove the crime.
Commisso claims she was demoted for speaking up and is now seeking unspecified monetary damages through her lawsuit.
