Russian President Vladimir Putin seemed momentarily taken aback on Thursday when he faced an AI-generated version of himself. The AI “replica” used the chance to ask Putin about artificial intelligence. This took place during a yearly press event connecting numerous callers to the president via video link.
The AI’s inquiry prompted laughter from the audience in the Moscow hall alongside Putin.
The AI model asked, “Vladimir Vladimirovich, hello, I am a student at St Petersburg state university. I want to ask, is it true you have a lot of doubles?”
It further added “And also: How do you view the dangers that artificial intelligence and neural networks bring into our lives?”
The inquiry caused an unusual pause from Putin. He was in his fourth hour of answering questions at the lengthy event.
“I see you may resemble me and speak with my voice. But I have thought about it and decided that only one person must be like me and speak with my voice, and that will be me,” said Putin.
“That is my first double, by the way,” he further added.
Ongoing speculation, especially in Western media, suggests Putin might have body doubles for certain public appearances due to rumored health issues.
The Kremlin has consistently refuted this, asserting the president’s excellent health.
